What do I do if I have a claim? CALL HILLCREST AGENCY
If you have a claim, call the Agency FIRST, before you call the insurance company. We want to help you through the claims process. That is one of the benefits of insuring through an independent agency. You do not have to call the company and talk to someone who does not know you, or the type of coverage you have.
You may see 800 numbers for reporting claims on many of the insurance policies now. Most claims are not an emergency, requiring immediate response. You can reach an agent at Hillcrest Agency during business hours. For an emergency, after business hours, an alternate number is provided on Agency voicemail.
Property Loss – Damage to the building or contents should be left for the adjuster to see. If you have to clean up or move something, take pictures if you can. Protecting the property from further damage is important also, and water damage should be cleaned up quickly to prevent mold. We can recommend contractors who specialize in restoration.
Liability Claims – Insurance for Bodily Injury or Property Damage is covered under the Liability portion of your Commercial or Personal policies. Defense is also provided even when negligence or legal liability is not yet determined.
Auto Loss – When you are involved in an auto accident, try not to move the vehicle until the police have arrived to do the report. Most people will exchange insurance information. Let us know at the Agency about any incidents, and we can discuss your options.
Workers Compensation – Injured workers should be treated immediately. Make sure employees understand that injuries occurring on the job are to be reported right away. Delay in reporting may result in additional treatment and claim costs.
